Hello everyone, and Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are full of fun expectations for 2022. I am working on my calendar for my virtual classes – as I was looking at my calendar, I did not realize how full my schedule is for this spring!
To start off, I will be teaching a virtual class that is available for SAGA members! It is Clara, a Sleeveless Dress with Liberty of London Accents.
Constructed with 100% cotton pique’, it has pintucks on the front bodice, and then is accented with shaped bias and bullion daisies. Liberty of London is used for the collar, the bias strips, piping, and a detachable sash.
The dress has piping accents on the collar, the waist, and the armholes. One of my favorite things about this class is teaching how to insert piping in the armholes with a smooth seam and no bulk at the underarm. This technique provides a couture finish that enables the dress to wear beautifully!
The dress is available in 3 colorways: Light blue (as shown in the sample), white, or pink. All 3 colorways use the same Liberty print.
The class is 3 Saturdays in March: 5th, 12th, and 19th. The class will be recorded, so you will have a few weeks to view each lesson, in case you have to miss a session. You can get more information here. Registration just opened – just log into your member area and the Registration link is posted. I hope to see some of your bright, smiling faces in class!
I will also be teaching virtually at the Sewing and Stitchery Expo on March 2-6 (this is the expo that is usually held in Puyallup, WA). You can download the class list here. I am teaching a 1 Needle class (45 min) on Piping, and a 3 Needle class on Beautiful Basic Embroidery and another on Frolicking with Feet. The classes last year were well received and I am looking forward to seeing everyone this year. The class fees are very reasonable. A 1 Needle class is $12 and the 3 Needle Classes are $40. I hope I see you some of you there!
February is going to be a ‘me’ month! I am so fortunate to be taking a jacket class from Susan Khalje. The class is 7 days long, not including prep work, so that will be my sewing Valentine to myself ♥♥♥ . I have been looking forward to this for a while, and to make it even better, the class is being held about 15 minutes from my house, so no traveling with my machine. I think I hit the jackpot on this one!
April brings Emma (my youngest) and Paul’s reception. All I can say is the 4th time hopefully is the charm. It will be wonderful to see all of our family as they travel to celebrate with us!
I will have a virtual class scheduled in May – stay tuned for more info.
June 30-July 3 is ASG in San Antonio, TX
July 28, 2022 to August 1, 2022 is Costume College in Woodland Hills, CA
August 18-22 is Traditions and Transitions – the school that Cindy Foose and I host every year. We are working on the project details and will have the information posted soon. We are soo excited about this year!
I have a pinking shear review coming up – I have been collecting different brands and will be trying them all out and giving you my 2 cents on the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I hope 2022 will bring about a bit more travel – I miss seeing you in person!
Happy Stitching,
Vaune
How do I register for the SAGA dress class? I can’t find a link on the SAGA website? Thank you. Margaret Bambury
HI Margaret! go to http://www.smocking.org and log in to your account. This will take you to your member area. There are 3 blue boxes across the top (if you are on a computer. if you are on a device, they will be vertical). The box on the left has the link to the Clara dress registration. If you can’t find it, call me and I can walk you through it 🙂
Can’t wait to see you there!
Vaune
Hi Vaune-you mentioned you would be in San Antonio in July. What is ASG and is this available to anyone? I live within driving distance to San Antonio and would be interested in more info about it. Thanks so much for sharing your talents! Paula McEuen. P.S. Would also like info on your school in August with Cindy Foose, please. What a barrel of fun that would be!
Hi Paula,
Hi Paula, American Sewing Guild. http://www.asg.org They will have their class brochure up in a couple of weeks, which will list all the teachers/classes. I am pretty sure you have to be an ASG member, which is probably $50/year. I will add you to the info list for school. We offer the spots to the alums first, and if there are any leftover spots we open it up to newbies.
