Hello everyone!
I want to wish you all a Happy Holiday Season. Here is hoping you get to see friends and family that you love and be warm while you are! If you were here, I would cut you a slice of coffee cake! (recipe at the end).
For you DOVO aficionados, I came across some DOVO scissors, and I am sharing them with you first, before I add them to my website. Most of you know that DOVO was sold and they are no longer making the regular sewing shears and embroidery scissors (the 4.5″ and 6″ serrated trimmers are all I carry). I get asked all of the time if I have any left, and I was fortunate enough to happen upon these.
I have 1 of these sets, which includes 4″ scissors, and 5″ and 6″ pair of shears. They come in a beautiful red leather pouch. They are $375.
I also have 1 pair of hardanger embroidery scissors (these have a very fine, sharp tip). They are $95.
If you want either of these, please email me at vaune@vaune.com with your phone number and I will call you for your information. If you email me tomorrow, I can get them shipped out tomorrow and you should have them by Saturday. If you email and they are already spoken for, I will let you know. I only have these, and cannot get more.
I am working on a tutorial video for the burp cloths that I make – hopefully that will be posted next week after Christmas.
Here is the recipe!
Mrs. Marshall’s Coffee Cake
Turn on oven to 350 degrees
Grease and flour 11″ x 13″ cake pan OR 2 – 9″ round cake pans
1 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar (I use light) 3 cups flour
2 sticks of butter 1 tsp salt
Using a dough hook or pastry blender, mix ingredients until the butter is incorporated and the mix is crumbly.
Pull out 1 cup and set aside.
Add:
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Mix well. Pour into cake pan(s). Sprinkle reserved cup of dry crumble mixture over the top. Bake 40-50 minutes at 350.
Enjoy!!!
