Hello to everyone,
Welcome to September! School is back in session (virtually), so I am working my way back to a schedule!

I have finally finished my Long Stitch Tutorial. It is posted to my YouTube channel, so you can view it at your convenience. As I mention in the tutorial, I am sewing on my Bernina, which is the only machine that I know has the Long Stitch. The Long Stitch really is a stitch that skips a stitch or stitches every other stitch. You can play around with this using some of the decorative stitches to come up with some new designs.

You can also use it to create tiny pleats!
I have another link to a new video of the Dressed for the Occasion Exhibit at the Illinois State Museum.

The exhibit consists of clothing for both adults AND children, and there is even a part where they go back to the clothing archives and show you some of the ‘runner up’ outfits that did not make it into the exhibit itself. The next time I visit my family in KY, I am going to check and see if there is a clothing exhibit at ISM – maybe worth a road trip!

I was on a zoom call with several sewing friends last weekend, and mentioned that for some down time for my brain, I had gone through all 5 seasons of Family Affair. I took a screen shot of Cissy (Kathy Garver) wearing a green gingham blouse that is smocked!
‘

Eve Plumb (Jan Brady in The Brady Bunch) was on one of the episodes and wore a dressed that had fabric manipulation on the bodice.
I want to thank all of you who responded to my questions regarding online and virtual learning – very helpful to me in how I am going to set my classes up! I will have more details and schedule next post!
