My ‘New’ Kentucky Home, Hand Delivered Supplies for the SAGA Convention and Sewing Machines….

Hello everyone, and what a summer it has been!
We have moved – we are officially residents of KY again.  It has been a busy summer – I don’t can’t believe how fast it has gone!  We had our school in August, spent 2 weeks in San Diego babysitting for our newest grandson before he started daycare, and as of September we are no longer CA residents.  A new chapter is starting for us :).   Now that I am not tied up with moving, I am hoping to get on a schedule for blog posts – fingers crossed.

Fall is just around the corner, and the craziness continues.  We are renting while we build a house.  The calvert has been put in, the footers are being worked on and framing should start in a couple of weeks.  Hopefully we will be in around Easter.  In moving, I was sooo organized – everything was labeled storage, inventory (going in to climate control storage) or house.  What do they say about the best laid plans?  As things were being unloaded, they mostly did NOT get to where they were supposed to.  My things are all over the place (I hope)!  And in the process of putting things into storage, the furniture was loaded in last.  Crawling over the furniture is my new form of exercise, keeping my fingers crossed that I can find what I need.  Mostly, I am taking a deep breath and not worrying about what I can’t find.  It will all work out!

SAGA convention is just around the corner.  As always, I am offering some of the larger (and heavier) notions that you might need or want, so you don’t have to worry about shipping.  If I don’t list something that I normally have, it is because it is not currently available.  You can meet up with me Tuesday, so you will have your things for class on Wednesday.  If you are interested in ordering any of these, please email me at vaune@vaune.com and let me know what you want, along with your phone number, and I will get in touch with you.  For most of these items, I will only be ordering enough for the pre-orders.  Anything that is leftover, I will have at my booth at Market on Friday.

First up is the Halo 2 Rechargeable Light.

This light has a magnifier, 2 levels of brightness, and recharges with a USB cord.  Remember that for classes, this year starts the policy requiring rechargeable lights, as the rooms will not have electrical hookups for everyone’s lights.  If you have one and are flying, this needs to go IN YOUR CARRY ON!!!  These have lithium batteries and can not be packed in your checked luggage.

These retail for $144, but will be $125 if you pre-order.

The Wool Covered Pressing Bar
This is one of my favorite pressing tools.  It does not sit on a wide base, as some of the others do. so it is easier to fit into smaller garments.  It is wonderful for pressing seams, especially on delicate fabrics.

Retails for $17, convention price is $15.30

Cutting mats from Martelli – most of the larger mats are out of stock at this time, so the options listed below are all I can get.  I think Martelli mats seem a bit thicker and last longer than other brands that I have used, which is why I prefer them.

This is a Cut & Press mat – 12″ x 18″ with a grid marked 10″ x 16″.  It is a cutting mat on 1 side and a wool pressing mat on the other.  Perfect for classe!

Retails for 119.99, convention price is $108.

This is the 12″ x 18″ Cutting Mat, with a marked grid of 10″ x 16″.  Just like above, but with no pressing mat.  The cutting mat is dual sided, yellow on one side and purple on the other, with a grid on both sides.

Retails for 63.99, convention price is $57.60

The last Martelli mat is 18″ x 24″ with a marked grid of #22″ x 16″.  2 sided, as shown.  This is probably the most versatile size.

Retails for 88.99, convention price is $80.

Acid Free Storage Box – this is the XL size (30″ x 818″ x 6″), which is labeled for quilt.  It is large enough to store several of your handmade treasures.

Retails for $39.50, convention price – $35.

To go along with this –

Archival Grade Tissue Paper – It is Acid and Lignin Free.  12 Sheets that are 24″ x 36″

Retails for $12, convention price – $10.

I usually have the big Better Board, the 26″x 38″ and the 30″ x 60″ Martelli cutting mats, but they are all temporarily unavailable.  I will let you all know when they are available again.

Finally, Cindy Foose is going to be downsizing some of her Bernina sewing machines.  I will be posting which machines she will be selling, and if you are interested in them, let me know.  If you are going to convention, I will see you there!  If not, please stay tuned for my adventures in creating my new sewing studio!

Happy Stitching,

Vaune
