Cindy Foose and I are continuing our Traditions and Transitions School in August, in Columbia, IL. Due to popular demand and our increasing number of ‘alums’, we are having 2 sessions this year and we hope you can make it. The retreat center is very peaceful, and it is wonderful to be able to spend time with old and new friends, sewing and chatting. The class room is open late for night owls and early for early birds, so you can sew at your leisure. The class, kit, room and board are all included in the Class Fee.

This year, we are making a sweet sundress with matching jacket. A straw hat is included to complete the ensemble! *** Please note that the picture of the sundress is not made in the fabric that will be used in class ***
The Abby Sundress
Abby is a breezy summer sundress that gives comfort and style on the warmest days! Librety of London Tana lawn, , Petersham grosgrain ribbon, and floche are the ingredients of this couture confection. The embroidered bodice has a subtle simplicity. The darling details of the back straps are what makes this dress a standout. A loop is sewn into each shoulder and a Petersham ribbon strap is linked through the loop and anchored to the back bodice. As on the front, embroidered flowers detail the bottoms of each strap. To complete the look, the Petersham ribbon detail is continued on the skirt, with 3 rows circling the skirt. You will learn how to perfect the basic bullion stitch as well as how to manipulate it into petals and circles. You will also learn the quick, and easy way to stitch a French knot. We will work on construction techniques as well: French seams, Petite piping, plackets, buttons, and top stitching. Your dress will be a classic couture creation!
Embellished Jacket
The versatile jacket will be embellished with the same Liberty of London Tana Lawn used in your sundress. The hood is lined with Liberty and the ruffles at the raglan sleeves are created out of Liberty as well. With a zip up front, this fun jacket will quickly become a wardrobe essential. Included in the class notes will be a pattern for a pair of shorts to match with the jacket, but the shorts will NOT be constructed in class.
Our Bonus Day class will be an embroidered band for the straw hat and a matching tote bag.
The dates for the 2 sessions are August 15-17 (M-Wed) and August 19-21 (Fri-Sun), with the Bonus Day Class on Thursday, 8/18.
If you have any questions, please email me at vaune@vaune.com and I will be happy to answer them for you.
We are at the close of our returning alums registration period and are opening up registration for new students on Monday, May 2, 2022. We still have some spots available in both sessions.

Do you teach in other areas, our guild in Baton Rouge would like to have a teacher come to Baton Rouge for a 1 or 2 day class? I think the guild in New Orleans is looking for someone, so it could be a combined trip. If you do, please email me some details.
HI Kathy,
Yes, I do travel all over to teach. I won’t be back home until later tonight, but will email you in the next day or 2.
Happy Stitching!
Vaune
I would like to enroll in your weekday class with the bonus day. I am unable to e-mail the registration form back to you so will have to print it off and send it with my registration fee.
Got it!
