Join us August 16 – 18 for the 2024 Traditions and Transitions with Vaune and Cindy!

Happy Leap Day everyone – one extra day to stitch!

Cindy Foose and I have been working on getting things ready for our 2024 Traditions and Transitions.  This year our project is a lovely dress that uses a luscious Ulster linen and the focus is on design and technique.  This carries through to our Bonus Day class, Fashionable Finishes, which is a notebook class that will leave you with a sample notebook of finishing techniques that you can apply to your garments in the years to come.  Fashionable Finishes is an optional add on class that is Monday, August 19, 2024.

Have you ever had a fabric whisper to you? Charmed by The Ulster Linen Company’s unique checked linen fabric, we had fun creating “Summer Sorbet” for our 2024 Traditions and Transitions Retreat. What’s your favorite sorbet “flavor”? Lemon, orange, or lime? Your class-project dress will reflect your choice of  “flavor” (color) of 100% Irish linen fabric. The class pattern is a versatile, exclusive design featuring piping on the petal-shaped sleeves, around the waist, and along the squared neckline. A clever addition to the applied front placket opening is diagonal buttonholes! The base pattern was purposefully designed to invite enhancements. After exploring a collection of decorative embellishments specifically utilizing the lines of color in the linen fabric, their application on the garment will reflect personal choices of ornamentation. Emphasis on excellence in construction methods will receive equal attention. An added bonus for the class is a pattern and instructions for a bespoke slip designed specifically for “Summer Sorbet” as well as the necessary fabric and buttons for its construction.

                                                                                                  “Fashionable Finishes”

Join us for a special notebook class of finishing techniqes gleaned from couture fashion offerings. From inception to completion, applying the skills and techniques included in this collection will ensure your garments are brought to fruition with perfection and flair. The completed compliation of in-class created samples will become an often-used and treasured reference source. Our “Front-folding, double-edged, contrast-trimmed Facing” is but a single example of the fun awaiting to be stitched up and logged into the class handout. A sewing machine is required  for this class.

Our retreat is all inclusive.  Your tuition covers you class, kit, room and board.  The location is centrally located about 30 minutes east of St. Louis.  This is a relaxed, laid back school – we learn while having fun!  We have 24 hour access to our classroom, which allows night owls and well as early birds to work when it suits.

For more information, please email me.  I will email you an informational brochure that will provide all of the details.

We hope to see you in August!

Happy Stitching,

Vaune
